Our 10th Grade Christian Homeschool Curriculum Picks for This Year

Choosing the right homeschool curriculum can feel overwhelming—especially when you’re homeschooling multiple kids in a large Christian family. Whether you’re a seasoned homeschool mom or just looking for some fresh inspiration, I hope this post gives you a helpful peek into what we’re using this year for 10th grade in our home.

In this post, I’m sharing our 10th grade Christian homeschool curriculum choices —what we picked, why we chose each subject, and how we hope it fits into our family’s rhythm this year. We aim for resources that are faith-based, flexible, and family-friendly, and I know how valuable it can be to hear what’s actually working for real families.

History: We do history together as a family however, I add some history books to my daughters list of books to read on her own time. A Little Book for New Historians: Why and How to Study History, Ancient Egypt and Her Neighbors,  Lillian Trasher: The Greatest Wonder in Egypt are some of the books she is reading.

Science: This school year we are continuing to use Apologia’s Biology and will be wrapping it up by October. Then we will trying something different. This option is still not finalized. I will be doing a little more research but as of now she will be using Life of Fred: Chemistry. I will also add some other books to go along with the study but again I will be doing a little more research before I land on anything.

Logic: This is a subject that we are also taking our time with this is our second year using it. I purchased the teacher guide, the student guide, and the DVD. It is a subject that I am not going to rush because it is better to take it slow to understand it.

Language Arts: This school year we are trying something new out. I registered my daughter for Redefining School’s American Literature Course. I am excited to read a couple of the books on the list. This is an online course and the students will be meeting once a week for group book discussions. My daughter will also have the chance to write papers and have the teacher grade them. I think it will be great for her to be accountable to someone else when it comes to her writing.

My daughter is an avid reader so there will be many books on her personal reading list. I am bringing out some book logs to provide the opportunity to keep track of what everyone has read this school year.

Math: For math she is going to the local high school. Last school year she attended a math class there from January-end of school year. We did this because she is very passionate about soccer and in order to play in the spring on the high school team she would need to take one class at the high school. This decision was not made lightly. Lots of prayer and pondering. We are taking this year by year. We can also take her out if we are thought it was becoming a problem. From our experience math in the early morning was the perfect subject to take at the school.

Spanish: In the past we used Rosetta Stone but my 10th grader decided to use Duolingo instead.

I hope this gave you a clear look at what we’re using for 10th grade in our large Christian homeschool this year. Every family is different, but seeing how others structure their days and make curriculum decisions can be such an encouragement—especially when you’re juggling multiple ages at once.

If you’re homeschooling other grades too, be sure to check out our curriculum choices for 5th grade and 3rd grade. And if you have questions or want to share what you’re using this year, I’d love to hear from you in the comments!
